At Balloony Toons, we believe in being honest and transparent with our customers. When industry-wide changes affect our costs, we want you to understand why—and know that we’re always working to keep our balloon bouquets affordable while maintaining the quality you expect.
Why Is Helium Sometimes Hard to Find?
Unlike air, helium isn’t manufactured. It’s a naturally occurring gas that’s recovered during natural gas production. Only a handful of facilities around the world produce most of the helium used in the United States.
When production facilities undergo maintenance, geopolitical events interrupt shipping, or demand increases from industries that rely heavily on helium, supplies can become limited.
These events create shortages that ripple through many industries—including the party and balloon industry.
Helium Is Used for Much More Than Balloons
While balloons may be the most visible use of helium, they actually represent a relatively small portion of total helium consumption.
Helium is considered essential for:
- MRI machines and medical imaging
- Semiconductor manufacturing
- Fiber optic production
- Scientific research laboratories
- Aerospace and rocket testing
- Industrial welding applications
Because these industries perform critical work, they often receive priority when supplies become limited.
How Does This Affect Balloon Prices?
During a helium shortage, distributors may increase prices, limit how much helium businesses can purchase, or temporarily stop accepting new customers.
That means local balloon businesses often pay significantly more for the same amount of helium than they did just weeks earlier.
Rather than sacrificing quality or reducing the size of our balloon bouquets, we continually evaluate our pricing to reflect the actual cost of materials while remaining as fair as possible.
Our Commitment to You
At Balloony Toons, we never raise prices simply because we can.
If helium costs stabilize, we’ll continue working to provide the best value possible. If costs increase dramatically across the industry, we’ll communicate those changes openly so there are never any surprises.
We believe great customer relationships are built on honesty, not hidden fees.
Looking for an Alternative?
Many beautiful balloon designs don’t require helium at all. Air-filled balloon arrangements, table centerpieces, columns, and decorative displays can create a stunning celebration while avoiding the effects of helium shortages altogether.
As Balloony Toons grows, we’ll continue expanding our product offerings to include more creative options for every celebration.
Thank You for Supporting Local
Every order placed with Balloony Toons supports a locally owned small business that genuinely cares about making your celebrations memorable.
We appreciate your understanding whenever industry conditions affect the products we offer, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of your special moments.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are helium balloons more expensive sometimes?
Helium is a limited natural resource. When global supplies become tight, distributors often increase prices or limit availability, which ffects
balloon businesses.
Is there a helium shortage?
Helium availability occasionally fluctuates due to production issues, transportation challenges, and demand from industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, and aerospace.
Can I still order balloon bouquets during a helium shortage?
Yes. Availability may vary depending on supply conditions, but Balloony Toons works with suppliers to continue serving customers whenever possible.
Do all balloon decorations require helium?
No. Many beautiful balloon decorations are air-filled and do not require helium, making them an excellent alternative during periods of limited helium supply.
Will Balloony Toons notify customers if pricing changes?
Absolutely. We believe in honest, transparent pricing. If industry-wide helium costs require us to adjust our prices, we’ll update our website and communicate those changes clearly so there are never any surprises.
